Working closely with the Web & Apps team for Hostway, I coordinated with the Product Manager, Product Marketer, and Sales Enablement team to design and launch Hostway’s Managed Magento product line at the Magento Imagine 2016 conference.
The product offering was created for both Cloud and Managed Servers, while Shared hosting eCommerce products were being retired and replaced by Magento solutions. As we were in the middle of a web redesign effort that was to be launched later, we had a few obstacles with navigation and existing pages, and also the challenge of addressing the user’s needs for an appropriate solution for their hosting platform.
We replaced the Shared Hosting eCommerce page that previously had the now retiring product with the introductory Magento Cloud Hosting plan, and created copy that spoke to the Shared user persona. This persona is unfamiliar with Magento and the complexities of hosting infrastructure, so we highlighted the features of Magento and ease of use. We used simplified diagrams and focused on the key out-of-the-box feature sets that appealed to the user group, such as mobile responsive design, templates, and built in PayPal payment gateway. We also highlighted how the Hostway managed support aspect would manage all of the high level IT functions without any additional cost.

The Cloud persona had it’s own set of challenges that needed to be addressed. These users were either System Integrators who were responsible for eCommerce integration on behalf of a client, or users who were managing their own Magento stores with limited IT support.
Accountability, page load speeds, scalability, migration, and uptime were the largest concerns of this user group. We addressed these concerns by setting up a demo store for the user to test drive speed and performance, and highlighted Accountability-as-a-Service in the certified support and migration features.

ENTERPRISE DEDICATED MAGENTO HOSTING
The Enterprise level Managed Magento Hosting also came with a few challenges. Targeted towards the Enterprise user with large product catalogs, high traffic, and multiple concurrent transactions, it was a challenge to show the scale of the product configuration possibilities. We also could not show a typical pricing grid as the dedicated hosting infrastructure was custom and have many variables. While our Managed Magento product was still in development, we still needed to create leads for custom Magento installations. The Magento eCommerce product page focuses on the benefits of the Magento platform and the dependability and services Hostway offers.
